Tom does not write music for commercial gain. Instead he has found music to be a vehicle by which he can share his vision on the modern day Christian church. His slant on those issues is confronting for some, but he believes the modern church is floundering because it has moved away from God and invented its own religion.
The Word of God is final and complete, and does not need re-inventing.
The Word is issued by God and we are free to accept it or reject it by faith.
The Word of God does not rely on our interpretation to be validated.
Tom Ferguson (Australia) spent most of his life as an Art Teacher. Sketching and art had always been his passion. His introduction to music came about quite by accident when he picked up a guitar one day and started strumming.
With a creative background driving his curiosity, Tom contemplated composing some original music, and his faith provided the opportunity for some inspired lyrics. Tom was 30 years of age at the time.
His writing flourished and in 1981 he was urged to record his songs. When you hear Tom sing, you realise there is something unique and special about his voice. Not For Sale, and Tears In Time were recorded on an 8-track half inch Tascam recorder at the home of a friend.
The first two recordings were completed in 1982. Both albums were recorded by Ian Lehmann with the assistance of Rod Boucher, and released on cassette under the Good*God label.
Both recordings were remixed by Chris Adams in 2003 and released on CD in 2004. During that process Chris and Tom met for the first time. Tom thought the original recordings had vanished, and Chris was pleased to discover that Tom was still composing, although he had not been into the studio since 1982.
Chris subsequently offered to help Tom out with another recording of his more recent material, and with over 400 songs to choose from, the project began. The result was Everyday Things, Tom’s third album.
